Seattle QB Russell Wilson Continues to Exceed Expectations
With Tackles and Ends getting taller and taller the QB position is morphing into a tall man’s game dominated by the Ben Roethlisbergers and Tom Brady’s of the world who stand comfortable over 6′. Seattle Seahawks QB is among the shorter QBs and many say that his draft stock went down in large part for that reason. But ever since Wilson replaced Tavaris Jackson and out-hustled former Green Bay Packer Matt Flynn, Wilson has been lighting up the field. Today, he led the Seahawks to a 27-7 rout of the Cowboys. I’ve always wanted to use the word rout so there you have it.
It’s only week 2 but Wilson was so convincing during the pre season and game 1 there is definitely reason to believe he will join the list of “little” QBs who have found success in the league.

The leader of that group is probably New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees. But back to Russell…he finished the game with 151 yards from a 15 of 20 passing performance. Yes 15 of 20. I had to read it twice myself.
I’ve been overly interested in what Rob Ryan is going to do with the Cowboys defense this year. I know that they are lacking depth but schematically they had a lot of issues last year in addition to being completely inefficient relying on various blitzes and little coverage. They looked better against the NY Giants last week but obviously that was only one game. I’m curious as to what made Russell so ridiculously efficient against them.
I only caught one quarter of the Seahawks/Cowboys game so I’m either going to watch the entire thing later OR just wait for the next cowboys outing and watch that. I’m not actually sure yet. So many games, so little time!
But if you have any good observations of what the Cowboys defense was doing (or not doing) that contributed to them being run over, feel free to post them.
The win was summed up in gifs by Deadspin. Well I suppose it was summed up because like I said I only saw a quarter of the game.
