Plaxico Burress’ financial problems just keep getting worse
Before Plaxico Burress was released from jail we found out that he had a house in foreclosure and some other debts. TMZ has reported that Burress owes 59k in back taxes to New York and 159k to a woman in relation to a car accident that happened in January 2008. You can read the details over on TMZ.
I was really hoping Plaxico Burress would find a job this season – not that it’s out of the realm of possibility at this point but it’s certainly not looking good. I can’t speak to whether Burress can still play or not. The New York Jets weren’t really the best testing ground for such an experiment.

The Jets have a super conservative offense. Every year since QB Mark Sanchez came into the league he has average under 7 yards per attempt with his highest average being 6.7 back in 2009. Since then the average has come down and last year it was a paltry 6.4. Not exactly the best QB for a WR who does his best work downfield.
A lot of people suggested that the Eagles should pick Burress up and certainly with Riley Cooper out with a collarbone break that’s not a bad idea for Philly especially given his relationship with QB Michael Vick. But the Eagles are stacked on offense without Cooper and riding the bench this season would pretty much make it unlikely for Burress to find work again. There are much younger, faster promising talents that people can find to ride to the bench. He really needs to sign with a team that needs him this year or call it career.
