To bid him farewell the Post lists their favorite mostly embarrassing Andray “Ratchet” Blatche moments
Andray Blatche had some very embarrassing moments as a Washington Wizard and I know I’m not the only one that’s surprised he made it long enough to be let go this off-season. I thought Blatche would be sent packing out of Washington after he solicited a prostitute who just happened to be an off duty policy officer.
But alas, finding the right deal and talent for Blatche proved to be difficult and the Wizards ended up keeping him far longer than they probably wanted to. Blatche was hardly the only problem the Wizards have but if you’re being optimistic you could say this move is a step in the right direction and perhaps a commitment to patiently building a good team. Hey if the Redskins can do it, why not the Wizards? Unfortunately, the Wizards have made other moves that appeared to be steps in the right direction only to have major setbacks. Remember the excitement after Gilbert Arenas was given a monster contract?

I may refer to Andray Blatche as Andray Ratch as in “ratchet” as in living life in a way that is totally uncalled for…but any time a troubled player leaves one team I hold out hope that a change of scenery will help make a difference. Only Blatche knows if he will really work to improve his attitude and decisionmaking on and off the court. At any rate, Blatche has had many incidents that I’m sure he (and Wizards fans) wouldn’t like to remember. But the Washington Post isn’t letting anyone forget that fast. So they counted down Ratchet Blatche’s most memorable moments.
You can read the whole list on the Post web site. I’m pasting my favorite two below:
9. Lapdance Tuesday
Speaking of the early-morning hours, Blatche was linked to far too many clubs during his time in D.C. The most infamous, of course, was the South Florida nightspot that listed him as a host for “Lapdance Tuesday.”
“Pullin up to cameo n a sec we bout to go hard n the paint,” he wrote on the Tuesday in question.
As mentioned, he’s not soft.
About a year later, he was listed as a host for a Wizards Grand Finale party after the team finished with the league’s second-worst record.
8. The Poopy Shoe
Not his fault. Not his fault. Not his fault.
But people still joke about the shoe Gilbert Arenas may or may not have pooped in. Part of the legacy.
People “read the funny stuff, like me taking a crap in Andray Blatche’s shoes,” Arenas once told Sports Illustrated. “But nobody is going to ask what Andray did to deserve it.”
What did he do to deserve it? Arenas later told local blogger Kyle Weidie that some teammates had cut up Blatche’s suit, and Blatche assumed it was Arenas, so he then threw all Arenas’s clothes in the Jacuzzi, so Arenas retaliated.
“It never ends with him,” Arenas said. “It’s just one big ol’ prank war.”
ay yi yi
Let’s hope my next post on Andray Blatche is a positive one. I’m rooting for him. I think it’s so awesome when guys make big turnarounds.
