NFLPA’s new shop lets fans buy any player’s apparel — not just famous ones

When I look at this all I can hear is Drake singing “I’m just saying…you can do better…”

I’m happy to report that wives and girlfriends of lesser known players will no longer be forced to go the Bianca Wilfork route. Yes ladies, no longer will you have to bedazzle your own shirts with your man who nobody knows name on them. Mrs. Wilfork obviously enjoys her flashy customized designs, but those who don’t will be able use the NFLPA shop to buy Nike gear with any player’s name or number–including those who aren’t media darlings.

This is a great thing for players looking to build their own brands and also make a little extra cash. I’ve always wondered why the NFL was so slow to realize that there are some players who aren’t nationally known but still have a fan base who can put a few dollars in their pocket by supporting them with official gear.

I’ve seen lots of players make their own unofficial shirts, and I think that is okay–but most of them aren’t particularly attractive and players are left to their own devices to promote them. Plus it’s probably not the wisest investment for those players who would benefit most from folks sporting their gear.
