Wes Welker broke one of the Patriots cardinal rules and then the Cardinals beat the Patriots. I’d say things are even for now.

New England Patriots WR Wes Welker used to be Tom Brady’s right hand man. That’s why it seemed logical that the Patriots would try to work out an acceptable deal to extend Welker despite his size and advancing age. Especially, since he returned so quickly from an injury that should have kept him out much longer than it did.

Before the season began, Welker expressed his frustrations over his contract.  Although he QUICKLY backtracked and said he was completely fine with everything and that his complaint wasn’t really a complaint rather a bad choice of words, it’s clear that the Patriots organization hasn’t forgiven Welker for not obeying their system of complete submission.

No organization likes it when a player is publicly unhappy about a contract. But Welker’s complaints were pretty damn benign given how quietly and happily he had been producing. And even if not, though teams may not like it when players gripe, they do, deep down in their hearts, understand why it happens. They also know, in their hearts, that the player is often correct. Unfortunately for Welker, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have no hearts to speak of. In particular, because Welker had what many considered a drop in the Super Bowl. And, as Brady’s wife Gisele confirmed, nothing is ever Brady’s fault.

Welker found himself benched behind Julian Edelman for the Cardinals game. Edelman, if you remember, has been used both on offense and in the Patriots secondary previously and is only beginning to prove himself as a full time WR. Welker wasn’t put in until  Tight End Hernandez (who works often from the slot receiver position) injured his ankle. I realize that the Pats are overloaded when it comes to offensive weapons and certainly that reduces touches for everyone. But that’s not really what’s at issue here — Welker’s silence on it and the Patriots lack of a game plan related answer proves it.

I really do not like the Patriots as a staff, a football team, or a mother fucking crew. And in particular I don’t enjoy Belichick and Brady’s vindictive greater than thou bullshit. They are such an entitled media-coddled group of mouth-breathers that I can’t find anything positive to say about them except for they used to win Superbowls at one point in time and Tom Brady looks like less of a creep now that his hair is short again.

Now I have to suffer through the media asking why Welker is being put through the paces rather than letting us genuinely celebrate  the fact that B&B’s egos lost to Kevin Kolb!

[re: Exhibit C, how do you point out that Welker wouldn't have played that much if Hernandez hadn't have gotten hurt yet still say that because Welker played 73% of snaps rather than his normal 75 or 76% that everything is normal? And no the Welker thing is not a moot point just cause Hernandez is out. Incredible.]

I love when Belichick hurts his team to prove a point. This is the same dude who made emerging star running back Stevan Ridley inactive for the AFC championship and active but seated for the entire Super Bowl presumably because he had a fumble a couple weeks prior. Belichick was satisfied to lose the Super Bowl  after Tom Brady couldn’t even pass gas much less a ball even though he knew even a smidge of a running game might have helped.
